Alistair Gardner, grava’s viticulturist and winemaker, studied at Lincoln University, completing the postgraduate diploma (with distinction) in Viticulture and Oenology in 2002. He has worked in France and extensively across various wine regions of Spain, including Galicia, Segovia, Toro and Malaga. This has provided broad experience with different climates, grape varieties, wine types and winemaking traditions. His most recent experience has been with Gil Family Estates in Spain, where he continues to oversee winemaking operations in Segovia.

Karla Falloon, Alistair’s wife, assists with all grava operations and their black lab-huntaway cross, Pepe, also loves to ‘help’ in the vineyard.
